BENGALURU: The Election Commission, which is looking into complaints of poll code violations by BJP president Amit Shah and former IPS officer Kempaiah, seem to have no substance in allegations against them. Meanwhile, Minister A Manju has filed a complaint against Hassan Deputy Commissioner Rohini Sindhuri.
During their recent visit to Mysuru, Shah and other BJP leaders were accused of giving `5 lakh cheque as compensation to family members of a BJP worker who was killed recently. Congress had filed a complaint with the EC accusing the BJP leaders of violating poll code.
Chief Electoral Officer, Karnataka Sanjiv Kumar said on Tuesday, “That was enquired by the police commissioner, deputy commissioner and the regional commissioner. The woman, who had earlier given a statement before a television channel, changed her version and said there was neither any cheque given nor any assurance given. That is the report of the regional commissioner and is under scrutiny now.”
In another case, former prime minister H D Deve Gowda accused former IPS officer and advisor to Home Minister Kempaiah of violating the poll code and he had also alleged that police jeeps were used for transporting money. After Gowda filed the complaint, the EC had ordered a probe. On Tuesday, Hassan district in-charge Minister A Manju filed a complaint accusing Hassan Deputy Commissioner Rohini Sindhuri of being biased against the Congress. The complaint will be looked into by Mysuru regional commissioner.
The officer added that they are looking into complaints against removing flags from temples in Udupi. The BJP has accused the election commission officials of removing flags from temples.BJP also claimed that its party workers are being harassed by police.
