Ambareesh keeps everyone guessing over contesting from Mandya

Actor-turned-politician M.H. Ambareesh has kept the Congress guessing by being silent over his decision to contest the Assembly election from Mandya constituency. The other two political parties — BJP and JD(S) — are also waiting to announce their candidates for Mandya.

Meanwhile, Mr. Ambareesh is busy with his upcoming film Ambi Ninge Vayassaytho (Ambi you are growing old) directed by Gurudatta Ganiga, with Sudeep essaying the role of young Mr. Ambareesh.

Sources close to Mr. Ambareesh said the actor had sought ticket for five of his followers in Mandya district, and party leaders were not ready to bargain with him on that count. People are still clueless over the political fight in Mandya.

Absence of Mr. Ambareesh during the recent visit of AICC president Rahul Gandhi to Mysuru region had raised the eyebrows. Besides that, he refused to apply for ticket, when party leaders, including Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, submitted applications. The party central leadership had asked him to make his stand known by April 8. It is said that the party has extended the deadline for the actor by two more days.

Mr. Ambareesh said, “Let the party announce the list first. Nothing is guaranteed till the B Form is issued in the Congress ... I am asking ticket for Mandya, Maddur and K.R. Pet, that’s all.”
