NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index was trading 0.36 per cent up at 11,428 around 01:45 pm (IST), backed by gains in Eicher Motors (up 2.24 per cent), Tata Motors (DVR) (up 1.21 per cent) and Tata Motors (up 0.88 per cent).

Shares of Mahindra & Mahindra (up 0.48 per cent), Maruti Suzuki India (up 0.39 per cent), Bosch (up 0.38 per cent), Bharat Forge (up 0.29 per cent), Motherson Sumi Systems (up 0.24 per cent) and Exide Industries (up 0.23 per cent) were also trading with gains.

On the other hand, Apollo Tyres (down 1.22 per cent) and TVS Motor Company (down 1.16 per cent) declined over 1 per cent.

Shares of Bajaj Auto (down 0.22 per cent), MRF (down 0.21 per cent) and Amara Raja Batteries (down 0.10 per cent) were also slightly down.

Equity benchmarks moved up a little on buying in metal, IT, FMCG and auto stocks.

The NSE Nifty50 index was up 8 points at 10,410, while the BSE Sensex was up 73 points at 33,954.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 25 were trading in the green, while 25 were in the red.

Vedanta, HCL Tech, Eicher Motors, Sun Pharma, Hindustan Unilever, Hindalco and TCS were among top gainers in the Nifty index.

However, HPCL, BPCL, Indian Oil Corporation, Adani Ports SEZ and State Bank of India were among top losers.
