SALEM/PUDUCHERRY: A bandh called by the Pattali Makkal Katchi to condemn the Centre's failure to constitute a Cauvery management board evoked a good response in Salem, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Cuddalore and Villupuram districts in Tamil Nadu and in Puducherry.

Around 90% of shops, hotels and other commercial establishments remained closed in all these places. Most private buses were not plying. The PMK has a strong hold in these places.

Tension prevailed for a while near Pennagaram in Dharmapuri district after some miscreants pelted four government buses with stones. No one was injured in the incident.

Karnataka State Regional Transport Corporation (KSRTC) didn't operate its buses to Tamil Nadu. The buses were stopped at Dhimbam, Mathewaran Malai and Attibele on the inter-state border.
