Chief Minister Raghubar Das while holding a meeting with Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) officials clearly instructed the major transmission line builder of the country to complete pending works in the State as soon as possible.
As of now six power stations have been completed in Dumka, Chaibasa Madhupur, Manoharpur, Govindpur and Mango whereas work is expected to be completed soon in Patratu, Latehar and Lohardaga power substations.
The CM also during the meeting on Tuesday instructed the officials to immediately address major problem areas coming in the way of setting up power substations and transmission lines in various parts of the State.
“Electricity is the basic requirement in the State's progress. Government is aiming to provide electricity to every household till Diwali. The goal of supplying uninterrupted power can be achieved with the help of new power stations and transmission lines coming up the several areas only,” the Chief Minister said.
Agreement in this regard was signed between JUSNL and PGCIL way back on February 24, 2012 itself but no significant progress could be made till 2014. Major emphasis on the exercise was given after the Government came into power in 2015. Presently with nine power substations and 27 transmission lines, 70 per cent work has been completed. CMD of PGCIL Indushekhar Jha assured the Chief Minister that the remaining work would be completed during this financial year.
Chief Secretary Sudhir Tripathi, Principal Secretary of Energy Department Nitin Madan Kulkarni, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Dr Sunil Kumar Barnwal, Executive Director PGCIL TC Sharma, SN Sahay, SK Gupta and others were present in the meeting.
