Nationals OF Eaton lands on DL, C Wieters activated

Nationals left fielder Adam Eaton was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a bone bruise in his ankle.

Catcher Matt Wieters was activated from the DL after missing eight games with an oblique strain. Washington also designated catcher Miguel Montero for assignment and recalled outfielder Moises Sierra.

Eaton did not play Tuesday -- his last game was April 8 -- and said after the game he'll likely need a week to recover from his latest injury. Eaton missed most of the 2017 season with a torn ACL.

Eaton, 29, is hitting .345 with 10 runs in eight games and was National League Player of the Week for the opening week of the 2018 season.

Brian Goodwin started and was in the leadoff spot Tuesday.

Sierra hitting .321 (17 for 53) with three doubles, two home runs, 11 RBIs and eight runs scored in 30 Grapefruit League games.
