CORAOPOLIS — A consumer alert from the Allegheny County Health Department has been issued for Dollar General in Coraopolis.
According to a report on the health department’s website, various violations were found during an April 11 inspection, including the presence of mouse droppings, urine and dead mice.
“Chewed and gnawed packaging and food debris” were found along with fresh mouse droppings and urine on food shelves, and two bags of chips had been chewed completely through, the report says.
Two “freshly dead” mice were found on a glue trap in the area of food products, and dog food bags in a stock room were “soaked” with urine, according to the report. There were also rodent droppings on top of products in the storage room and “nesting materials” where found in the room.
The store at 926 Fifth Ave. has been ordered to discard all food not fit for consumption, clean the store and repair a hole where inspectors believe the mice are entering the building.
The store was initially inspected March 29, and a reinspection on April 5 showed the violations still had not been corrected, according to the health department’s website.
