ACB traps section officer in Bhupalpally

Had demanded ₹50K for issuing documents

A senior section officer, Pindi Srinivas, working at Bhupalpally revenue divisional office was caught red-handed by the anti-corruption personnel here on Wednesday.

On a complaint, the ACB personnel laid a trap and caught the officer while he was receiving ₹50,000 cash against a favour.

According to ACB DSP Kiran Kumar, the complainant, a farmer Palika Raghunatha Chary owns four acres of land on the outskirt of Bhupalapally in survey numbers 320 and 321. He complained a few months ago to the Mulugu RDO and the Joint Collector that his land had been encroached by others by creating false documents.

He made an appeal under section 5 (b) of the revenue records. After duly verifying his passbook and other relevant documents, the RDO ordered for status quo to be issued on the land. However, the officials in the Revenue Department have been harassing the farmer Raghunatha Chary in processing the documents. The senior section officer P. Srinivas demanded ₹50,000 as bribe to issue the documents.

The farmer unable to meet the demand finally approached the ACB officials. The officials laid a trap and caught him red-handed while receiving the bribe.

Mr. Kiran Kumar said he would be produced in the special ACB court in Hyderabad.
