Govt suspends three district excise officers

In  drastic action, the excise officers of Haridwar, Dehradun and Champawat districts have been suspended with immediate effect on Tuesday for failing to meet the revenue target set by the excise department. As per the government order released on Tuesday, the state additional chief secretary (Excise) Dr Ranveer Singh has suspended Dehradun district excise officer Manoj Upadhyay, Haridwar district excise officer Prashant Kumar and Champawat  district excise officer Rajendra Lal with immediate effect. The action is learnt  to have been taken as a part of action in view of  revenue loss incurred by the department  in the three districts in April 2018. Till the next order is issued, additional district magistrate (administration) has been given additional charge of Dehradun district excise officer while ADM (finance) Haridwar Lalit Narayan Mishra would  discharge duty as the district excise officer, Haridwar and ADM (administration and finance) Hemant Kumar Verma would do the same  in Champawant district, it is learnt.
