KRYHPSA beat Gokulam Kerala FC 5-0

shillong: KRYHPSA continued their dominant form in the second edition of the Hero Indian Women's League as they blanked Gokulam Kerala FC 5-0 in a group stage match here on Tuesday, finishing top of the group. They will now face Rising Student Club in the semi-finals. Meanwhile, Eastern Sporting Union will lock horns against SETHU FC. Both semi-finals are slated to kick off on April 12. Bala Devi opened the scoring as early as the 6th minute when she tapped home a cross from the flank. In the 25th minute, a wicked deflection saw Dangmei Grace score as KRYHPSA doubled their lead. Skipper Bala Devi once again found the net in the 43rd minute from inside the box and completed her hat-trick in the extra time of first half.

pak presence prompts Asia Cup shift

new delhi: The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) on Tuesday shifted the 50-over Asia Cup from India to United Arab Emirates as the BCCI could not procure permission from the central government to host Pakistan. The tournament will now be held from September 13-28 in Dubai and Abu Dhabi after all the member nations of ACC agreed unanimously for the change during a meeting at its Kuala Lumpur headquarters.The BCCI was represented by its CEO Rahul Johri, who placed the request during the meeting chaired by PCB chairman Najam Sethi. "Johri apprised the ACC board of the current situation. The BCCI has got a clearance that they can play Pakistan at a neutral venue. Once the approval to allow Indian team play Pakistan at a neutral venue was agreed upon, the board's request was placed," a senior BCCI official revealed.

India to face Serbia in Davis Cup Play-offs

new delhi: India were on Tuesday drawn to clash with fifth seed Serbia in an away Davis Cup World Group play-off tie, scheduled to be held from September 16-18, in traditional three-day five-set match format. India beat China 3-2 to make it to the World Group Play-offs in the new two-day three-set match format in Tianjin. A Novak Djokovic-less Serbia had lost 1-3 to the USA at home in the first round of the World Group in February this year. The last time India and Serbia clashed was also a World Group Play-off tie which India lost 2-3 in Bengaluru in 2014.

Mohun Bagan face Shillong Lajong test

bhubaneswar: Kolkata heavyweights Mohun Bagan face a tricky test in Shillong Lajong, on a high after their stunning come-from-behind win over FC Pune City, in the Super Cup quarterfinals here on Wednesday. Mohun Bagan coach Sankarlal Chakraborty implored his players to take the match as an opportunity to repay the fans who have supported them through thick and thins. "Whoever dons the jersey should take pride in representing the club and we'd try our level best to repay the fans who support us through thick and thins," Chakraborty said.
