BENGALURU: Passengers on a Bengaluru-bound Spicejet from Coimbatore were momentarily alarmed when smoke emanated from the cabin while the aircraft was about to land at the Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru on Wednesday.

The flight (SG 3466), with about 40 passengers on board, had departed from Coimbatore at 12.40pm. The smoke was detected when the plane was to land around 1.40pm.

In a statement, Spicejet said the crew observed “light smoke” in the front cabin while landing. “The Q400 aircraft made a normal landing and vacated the runway,” the statement said. “Neither did the pilots seek nor was there any requirement for an emergency landing. Passengers deplaned safely and in a normal manner.”
