RANCHI: Jharkhand became the 10th among states and union territories to be certified open defecation free in the urban areas. An official announcement for the same was made by Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MOHUA) on Tuesday.
With
Hussainabad being certified ODF, all the 41 urban local bodies in the state have achieved ODF certification by the Quality Control of India.

Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM), Rajesh
Sharma said, "A state or a district is certified by the QCI after a ground visit by the team. Hussainabad was the last among ULBs to be certified in the state and with that we have achieved 100% ODF zones in urban areas."
Apart from Jharkhand, the other states and union territories which have been certified ODF by QCI are Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Chandigarh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Dadra Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu and Sikkim. Mission director Sharma said that achieving ODF certification is only a part of the complete Swachh Bharat Mission.
