5-member gang busted

A five-member gang, which called itself ‘Daring and Dashing’ gang, and was resorting to illegal activities, was busted by the Bhavanipuram police on Tuesday. The accused were booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.

The accused were addicted to ganja and were all ex-convicts. They were involved in extortion, arson, and other offences, said Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Nawab Jaan.

The Bhavanipuram police had opened a rowdy-sheet and crime suspect sheet against Guntur Praveen Kumar, a member of the gang. A suspect sheet was also opened against another accused, Mutyam Nagaraju, in the same station, said West Zone ACP G. Ramakrishna.

Three other accused — Peddisetty Sri Durga Varaprasad, P. Shiva Ramakrishna and Medisetty Vijay Babu — all natives of the city, were involved in different cases. Police seized 650 grams cannabis (ganja) from them.
