Dow's decline belies positive NYSE breadth data

The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, -0.46% is falling 95 points, with 21 of 30 components losing ground, but the NYSE's internal readings are pointing to a more positive outlook. The number of advancing stocks outnumbered decliners 1,400 to 1,194 on the Big Board, while volume of advancing stocks represented 59.0% of total volume. The Nasdaq exchanges breadth data was more mixed, however, as declining stocks led advancers 1,270 to 1,073 but declining volume trailed advancing volume 29.5 million shares to 34.3 million shares. The S&P 500 SPX, -0.12% fell 0.3% while the Nasdaq Composite COMP, +0.12% shed 0.1%.
