A traffic stop involving a suspicious vehicle March 31 ultimately led Grove City police to recover suspected heroin and crack cocaine from a room at a motel in the 1900 block of Stringtown Road.
While on patrol at 7:49 p.m., an officer observed the vehicle in the motel parking lot. After making the traffic stop, the officer recovered drug paraphernalia from the vehicle, reports stated.
According to reports, the driver told police she had bought drugs from a man staying at the motel and was returning to pay him when they stopped her. She gave officers a description of the man and his car, which was parked in the lot, and his room number.
Police were able to determine the man's identification. A motel clerk told police the room was registered to another man, but that she had only seen the named suspect at the motel, reports stated.
Officers began surveillance of the man's room. At 8:55 p.m., a car pulled into the lot and the man walked out of the motel room and approached the driver's side window of the vehicle, reports stated. After about five seconds, he began walking back to his room.
The car, which had its brake lights on the entire time, began to back out. Officers approached the car and told the driver to stop. An officer also yelled to the male suspect returning to the motel to stop. The officer patted the man down and found he had a large amount of cash in his pocket and another large sum of money in his wallet, reports stated.
Police were unable to determine if a drug sale had occurred, so they told the man he was free to go, but he had to leave the premises, reports stated.
The clerk asked police to accompany her to the room to make sure no one else was there.
When they entered the room, police observed a digital scale, several boxes of bags, an open pack of Suboxone, a marijuana cigarette and three pills identified as Diazepam all in plain sight, reports stated. Several ripped bags were also found and what appeared to be cocaine residue was on the sink, according to reports.
More bags and a box of .44-caliber bullets were found inside an overnight bag. A hat, located under two pillows on the bed, contained three bags, one with 20.6 grams of heroin, reports stated. The other bags contained crack cocaine and an unknown white powder, which weighed a combined 19.1 grams, according to reports.
No arrests were made, according to reports.

The man said he had been checking on the house while his parents were out of town. He said he found a rear window had been broken out and discovered the items were missing.
* A resident in the 2200 block of Marsh Run Court reported March 30 that her credit card had been used without her permission to make several purchases and withdrawals from bank machines totaling $4,151.
* A resident in the 2100 block of Legends Drive reported a box of tools valued at $3,540 was stolen from his garage. The theft occurred between 3 p.m. March 25 and 1:30 p.m. March 28, reports stated.
* A resident in the 3400 block of Parkbrook Drive reported March 28 that a set of golf clubs, a ball marker and a folding knife were stolen overnight from his car. Total loss was valued at $1,230, according to reports.
