LUDHIANA: An 8-year-old girl was killed and her two uncles injured when the auto-rickshaw they were travelling in overturned in Harkrishan Vihar,
Meharban, on Tuesday morning.

Jaswinder Singh, a resident of Basti Jodhewal, was driving the auto recklessly under the influence of drugs.
The auto turned over Suhani near her house. “The driver lost control of the vehicle 50 metres from her house. It turned turtle on the girl, who was at a corner seat. While her uncles Arunjan, 40, and
Rajesh Kumar, 37, received minor injuries, her two other kin escaped unhurt. Following the accident, the driver fled. He was soon traced and arrested,” the SHO added.
Suhani, along with her family and relatives, had gone to Vaishno Devi shrine. On reaching the city on Tuesday morning, they hired two auto-rickshaws from Ludhiana railway station for home. While one dropped them at Meharban safely, the other met with an accident.
The auto driver has been arrested under sections 279 (reckless driving), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others), 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 304-A (causing death due to negligence) of the IPC.
