Since October 2015, Purdue University and the CME Group have been releasing monthly reports from their Ag Economy Barometer. The nationwide survey of 400 producers in various sectors of agriculture collects data about the health of the ag economy.

Each month, the barometer shows a number reflecting producer sentiment, and each quarter, the index includes an in-depth survey of 100 agriculture and agribusiness thought leaders.

Jim Mintert, director of the center for commercial agriculture at Purdue University, and Michael Langemeier, ag economist with Purdue University, report their findings. In the March report, sentiment dipped five points from the February reading of 140 to 135.

On U.S. Farm Report, Mintert, Langemeier, and ag economist Chris Hurt of Purdue University discuss the latest Ag Economy Barometer and dive deeper into the results.
