Boating service at Ananthankulam introduced

Collector Prashant M. Wadnere formally inaugurated a boating service at Ananthankulam at Vadakku Konam near here, another attractive feature to the district’s tourism industry, on Wednesday.

The boats will be operated by Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation from the boat jetty established at the cost of ₹ 9.70 lakh at Ananthankulam, a system waterbody getting water from Pechchiparai dam.

As the international tourist destination of Kanniyakumari attracts people from various parts of the country and international guests throughout the year, the new feature has been added to attract more visitors also towards Nagercoil, the district headquarters, by creating more attractions.

The TTDC launched rowing and pedalling boats.

For the two-seater pedalling boat, ₹ 100 will be charged for 30 minutes and the charges will be ₹ 150 for hiring four-seater pedalling boat for similar duration. ₹150 will be charged for 30 minutes of ride in the three-seater rowing boat. The boat jetty will be operational between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. on all days.

Rajya Sabha MP Vijayakumar, Manager of Hotel Tamil Nadu, Kanniyakumari C.R. Jackson William, and others were present.
