DeLand residents interested in learning what it's like to be a cop are invited to join the Citizens Police Academy.
The free classes will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursdays starting on May 17 with graduation on June 28, according to the DeLand Police Department. The class, which is limited to 25 participants, will learn about patrol operations, criminal investigations, defensive tactics and more.
Applications for the program are available at the department, 219 W. Howry Ave., which also is where classes will be held.
