Surat: Teenager rapes 16-year-old after friendship proposal turned down

SURAT: Police arrested a 16-year-old teenager on Wednesday in Olpad police station of Surat district for allegedly raping a girl of the same age near Sayan village. Police will send the accused to juvenile home after producing him in court.


A resident of a village in limits of Olpad police station, the accused was booked by police for alleged rape of the girl. The survivor was returning home on Tuesday afternoon when the accused stopped her on road and pulled her into a farm. He raped her and escaped from the location. After reaching home, the girl informed her parents.


The survivor, who suffered injuries in private parts, has been admitted to a hospital in Surat. Police said her condition was stable.


The accused knew the survivor since they live in the same locality of a village. They used to talk sometimes, but recently, the accused had proposed the survivor for friendship. The girl turned down the proposal after which the accused raped her, police said.


The survivor recently joined embroidery classes and was returning home when the accused committed the crime. He threatened the girl of dire consequences if she informed anyone, but the girl informed her family about the incident and lodged the complaint with police.
