The Commonwealth Games got underway on Wednesday April 4

The 2018 Commonwealth Games is underway in Australia and you can get the updated medals table right here.

England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland have all sent their teams to Gold Coast seeking to bring back medals.

There are some heavy favourites for podium places, such as diver Tom Daley, swimming sensations Adam Peaty and Jazz Carlin, and the Brownlee brothers.

Australia will also be hoping for a medal-filled Commonwealth Games, while Canada, India and New Zealand all have large squads competing.

But which country will top the medals table? Back in 2014 in Glasgow, England came out victors with 58 golds, with Australia (49), Canada (32) and Scotland (19) trailing behind.

It could certainly be a different story this year, however.

Day Two summary

England's Adam Peaty closed in on the defence of his Commonwealth Games 100m breaststroke title on day two of the Gold Coast Games.

The 23-year-old world, European and Olympic champion broke his own Games record to clock a time of 58.59 secs as he advanced quickest to the final.

England team-mate James Wilby was his nearest challenger, fresh from his 200m victory on Thursday.

He will now race for gold on Saturday and Peaty said: "I'm pretty confident we can get something fast (tomorrow)."

Sarah Vasey, Peaty's training partner in Loughborough, won the women's 50m breaststroke, while Scotland's Mark Szaranek took silver in the men's 400m individual medley and Duncan Scott bronze in the men's 200m freestyle.

Australia won the men's 4x100m freestyle relay ahead of England in silver and Scotland in bronze.

Alice Tai won the women's S9 100m backstroke and Lewis White took silver in the corresponding men's event.
