In remembrance of a terrible event in Wichita Falls history, the Chamber of Commerce hosted a blood drive Tuesday.

On April 10, 1979, a massive tornado tore through Wichita Falls and surrounding towns, killing more than 40 people and injuring at least 1,000.

The day, known as Terrible Tuesday, changed the lives of local residents forever.

On memory of the event, the chamber encouraged the community to donate blood.

About 24 pints of blood were collected Tuesday at the event in the Big Blue building downtown.
