England secured their biggest ever win over New Zealand to reach the Commonwealth Games semi-finals.

The 54-45 victory means they remain unbeaten on the Gold Coast.

The Kiwis, who also lost to Malawi earlier in the preliminary stage, now face an anxious wait to see if they qualify for the semis, with their fate out of their hands in Pool B.

England will face either hosts Australia or Jamaica in the semi-finals.

But with the Roses having topped their group they should avoid playing hot favourites and reigning champions Australia, who play Jamaica later on Wednesday, in the last four on Saturday.

The final takes place on Sunday.

Shooter Jo Harten, who plays her domestic netball in Australia, told BBC Sport: "I don't care about humiliating whoever I play against. We don't care who we are up against, we are here for England.

"I think that is the the first time that New Zealand have lost two in the pool stages, but to be honest that is music to my ears."

All five previous Commonwealth finals have been between the Australian Diamonds and the Silver Ferns of New Zealand.
