Myron Bernard Herman, 87, died Monday, April 9, 2018, in Washington, Iowa.
He was born April 16, 1930, to Anton C. and Anna M. Schulte Herman, near Harper, Iowa. He graduated from St. Elizabeth School in Harper. Myron served in the U.S. Army. He lived and farmed southwest of Harper all of his life. On Nov. 30, 1974, he married Elva Lee Peters at St. Pius Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. He enjoyed gardening, ceramics, painting and art. He was a member of Holy Trinity Parish in Keota.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Elmer Herman, Omer (Clara) Herman and Howard Herman; two sisters, Lorene Herman and Bernadine (John) Van Otegham; brothers-in-law, John Snakenberg, Allen Balvin, Calvin Eden, Robert Soukup, Eddie Kubik and Ed Peters; and sisters-in-law, Nelda (Eddie) Kiracofe and Velma Eden.
He is survived by his wife, Elva; sister, Marcella Snakenberg of Sigourney; sisters-in-law, Cecila Herman of Sigourney, Josephine Balvin of Cedar Rapids, Bonnie Kubik of Walker, Judy Soukup of Marion, Rachel (Dean) Willis of Marion, Juanita Eden of Framingham, Mass., and Rebecca (Steve) Vlcko of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Trinity Parish St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota. Prayer service: 4 p.m. Thursday, Holm Funeral Home with visitation until 7 p.m. Burial: Holy Trinity Parish St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Harper. Arrangements by Holm Funeral Home in Sigourney.
