This will be the first of 40 such locomotives that are to be delivered by the company by March 2020, according to the NDTV report. India plans to have 800 locomotives costing Rs 20,000 crore by the next decade.
The Prime Minister will also inaugurate a new bi-weekly train, the Humsafar Express, which connects Katihar to New Delhi, aside from other railway projects. He will also unveil several development projects, including four big-ticket sewerage projects in Patna.
The sewage-treatment capacity of these projects is expected to be 60 million litres a day. The project is a part of the government's Clean Ganga initiative.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh and other dignitaries are expected to attend the event.
Modi's visit follows recent events wherein CM Nitish Kumar had demanded 'special' status for Bihar, which prompted many to speculate about a rift in the relations between the JD(U) and BJP.
