Nagpur: An issue of a single policeman signing the referral documents in all medico-legal cases (MLC) has come to fore in the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). It is being debated that this could be new form of cheating the GMCH management.
One cop named Raju with buckle number 4399 from Ajni police station has been signing all the documents of MLC cases for diagnostic tests like X-ray, MRI, CAT scan etc.
This person is posted at the GMCH and facilitates all the MLC cases. The issue came to light when some staffers at the radio-diagnosis department noticed that so many cases were being referred by a single policeman.
“One cop signing all the MLC papers means that only one person is on duty round-the-clock. But this is not possible practically. There is something fishy about it. We will conduct an enquiry,” said Dr R Gosavi, GMCH medical superintendent.
The superintendent also told TOI that the chances of anyone manipulating things were minimum as the statements of all the patients investigated are recorded. The records are kept for over 10 years.
“No one wants to be pushed into an MLC case,” said Dr Gosavi.
