British heavyweight boxing rivals Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury

Anthony Joshua’s war of words with Tyson Fury has continued with the world champion telling his British rival to stop “commentating” and “get motivated” for a return to the boxing ring.

Last month Joshua beat New Zealand’s Joseph Parker on points to add the WBO belt to his IBF and WBA titles. After the title fight in Cardiff, Fury - the former WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO champion - mocked Joshua by saying he was the “true king” of heavyweight boxing.

After beating Parker, Joshua said he would like to face Fury or set up a title fight with Deontay Wilder to decide who is the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.

However, Fury has not been in the ring since 2015 and until he does return, Joshua believes his rival should keep quiet.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Joshua said: “There is no denying Tyson knows how to box. He is a good boxer.

“But until he makes his return to the ring, I cannot sit down and wait patiently at home for Tyson Fury’s return. I have a career and goals I want to achieve so I am focusing on what I am doing.

“When he gets himself together… boxing fans are awaiting his return. He has to get himself back in action and worry about what he is doing, rather than sitting at home commentating on my fights.

“He should be getting a bit of motivation and hunger back in the belly to get training and get back in the ring because realistically people don’t want to see a commentator. They want to see a fighter fight.”

Meanwhile, Joshua says his team are preparing a “very good” offer that he hopes will stop WBC champion Wilder from “whining”.

Joshua said: “I want that fight, no doubt about it. He was very vocal about wanting the fight before I was, because my objective was to accumulate every single one of the belts.

“Now I have done that, Wilder’s my 100% attention. We’re about to make another offer to Wilder’s team - a very good offer that should create a lot of interest.

“Hopefully that will stop a lot of his talking and whining, and he can step up to the plate.”
