eBay: Rare £2 coin sells for £1,000 - do you have one of these coins?
EBAY is a good place to find rare coins, and one seller has got £1,000 for this £2 coin, but why? The Act of the Union £2 coin, minted in 2007, has a jigsaw design and was sold on eBay today.
A rare £2 coin that commemorates the creation on the UK has sold on eBay for £1,000 today.
Seller “Shancahil5” from Clacton-on-Sea in the UK posted the coin on the online auction site with little additional info, and simply referred to it as the “Rare £2 puzzle coin”.
However, the coin is actually the Act of the Union Coin. It was created in 2007 to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the creation on the UK.
Political unification of Scotland and England was made official in 1707, and one parliament was created for both countries.
You can spot this coin thanks to its unique puzzle design.

It depicts the rose of England and the thistle of Scotland combining to create on jigsaw, along with a portcullis representing Parliament.
The coin, designed by Yvonne Holton, states along its rim: “United into one Kingdom.”
Britain and Scotland are still united under the parliament, although there have been calls for independence in Scotland since.
There was a referendum in 2014 on the question, however the electorate voted to stay in the union with England.
However, according to coin experts this piece is not particularly rare.
There are 7,545,000 of these pieces in circulation, and it only scores a 1 on the scarcity scale create by Change Checker, meaning it is not at all rare.

The item is titled “Wounded Soldier 2006 50p Coin Hero Rare Fifty Pence Collectable Circulated“, while the description reads simply: “Rare circulated coin”.
Another rare Peter Rabbit 50p coin has sold for a whopping £1,175 for a collection of only four coins on eBay yesterday.
The 2016 set of coins inspired by the British author prove a huge hit on the website when it was sold for the massive sum by eBay user “thumperzz01”.
