Manish confident of SRH’s chances

HYDERABAD: Manish Pandey is a member of the formidable middle-order trio of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), the other two being Yusuf Pathan and Deepak Hooda.

The 28-year-old free-stroking batsman feels SRH has everything that makes it a champion side.

“We have the dedication, work ethics, discipline and depth in the line up which can challenge the best,” said Manish ahead of the big game against Mumbai Indians here on Thursday.

“Enjoying everyone’s success is the key to winning the championship. Yes, some of the youngsters make a mistake of not walking up and talking to the seniors and big names. They should keep learning.”

“Initially, I was jittery — moving over from KKR. It was like going to a new school. But after meeting players who have been my India teammates and against whom I played a lot in domestic cricket, I am very comfortable now. The credit goes to the support staff — V.V.S. Laxman, Murali and Tom (Moody) and the franchisee owners for creating the kind of wonderful atmosphere for all the guys.”

Speaking about his role, Manish said it is only a new responsibility with the same batting role. “I just think no matter in which team you, you should take care of the minute details in training to become a better player,” he said.

“We (middle-order) have to wait patiently for the chances as the top-order is heavy. I am comfortable with my role and position in the team.”

Manish also believes the IPL is a huge platform for India hopefuls.

“I don’t say Ranji Trophy is not important. In fact, many of us have made it to the IPL because of our performances in domestic cricket. But in IPL, you tend to learn many things after meeting all the big names. You can certainly go to the next level.”

On the big game against MI, Manish hoped SRH would have another comfortable win.

“They are a good side with big names. But I think we bowled really well against Royals. Again, it all depends on how well you play on the given day,” Manish said.
