9 pilgrims dead in vehicle collision in UP

At least nine pilgrims were killed when their vehicle collided with a truck on Karnal-highway in district today, the police said.

Circle said the victims were returning from a trip to Vaishno Devi.

He said seven persons died on the spot, while the remaining two lost their lives during treatment.

The deceased have been identified as Premvati (58), (28), Honey (3), Nidhi (30), Jaykishan (40), Neetu (27), Savitri (30), Jayram (38) and Jaidev (26)--all belonging to Meerut, the said.

Three other persons are undergoing treatment at a hospital here, he added.
