BJP calls hartal in Varappuzha

The BJP has called a hartal in Varappuzha panchayat on Tuesday following the death of a youth at a hospital after he was taken into police custody and allegedly subjected to custodial torture.

Sreejith, 26, died at a hospital on Monday evening due to severe injuries in his abdomen. A huge battery of the police has been deployed at Varappuzha and also on the premises of Government Medical College, Kalamassery, where the autopsy on the youth’s body will be performed on Tuesday morning.
