NEW DELHI: The recent arrest of a Ukrainian model has raised worries about a possible case of 'honey-trapping' against an
IPS officer.
Daria Molcha was arrested by a team of the
Uttar Pradesh Police for entering the country illegally without proper documents. The police also discovered that Molcha has been involved in several criminal activities in India.
The authorities recovered an iPad, two cellphones, US $1,000 from her and a fake driving license from her.
Further, the STF made a startling discovery on her cellphone - a photo of the model in a police khakhi uniform, posing with a West Bengal cadre IPS officer.
Since it is not clear if the uniform belonged to the officer in the image, the STF have requested help from the forensics department.
It has expressed the fear that this could be a case of 'honey-trapping'.
The officer in question, who is currently working in Director General (DG) status in
West Bengal Police, has held important portfolios in the central government too.
He has previously too found himself in the middle of a controversy. He was allegedly in contact with
Indrani Mukerjea, the main accused in the Sheena Bora murder case.
The CBI and Central Vigilance Commission have also investigated him in the past.
