In the election-bound Karnataka, senior BJP leaders Ananth Kumar, Prakash Javdekar, Muralidhar Rao and P C Mohan met the State Chief Electoral Officer Sanjiv Kumar and submitted a memorandum to simplify the procedure for clearance given during election campaign by political parties. They have asked the Commission to establish a single window clearance system for district-level approvals.
In another development, the Minister for Animal Husbandry and Sericulture A Manju has written a letter to the State Electoral Office to transfer Hassan District Deputy Commissioner Rohini Sindhuri and withdraw the FIR filed against him for model code of conduct violation.
The District administration head Rohini Sindhuri is said to have directed the Election officers in the district to file the charge sheet against the minister for misusing his office and officials even after the model code of conduct came in to force from March 27th.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and other senior Congress leaders in the state are on tour to Delhi to finalise the candidate's list. It is said the first list of Congress will be announced on April 13. BJP state President Yeddyurappa kick-started his second leg of the election campaign from North Karnataka today.
After the announcement of the first list in BJP, the campaign has become candidate-centric in some of the constituencies. The announcement has also led to protests by supporters of aspirants who missed the ticket.
