Saudi's Falih, IEA's Fatih Birol stress need for energy investments ABU DHABI: Saudi Arabia's energy minister Khalid al-Falih and International Energy Agency (IEA) director Fatih Birol stressed the need for more investments in the energy sector to meet growing demand, a statement by the energy ministry said on Tuesday.

Investments were needed to offset declines from mature fields, the energy ministry said, after the two officials met in Paris.

The officials also discussed expanding cooperation to improve energy efficiency and increasing the contribution of renewable sources and nuclear power to the global energy mix.

Falih is part of a delegation led by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on a three-day visit to France.
