Cameras monitoring R&R works to be linked with Fibernet

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has asked the officials of the Water Resources Department and Polavaram Project to install 10 CCTV cameras at key locations of the project site to ensure better observation and security.

Virtual inspection

The Chief Minister conducted the 56th virtual inspection of the progress of the works from his office at Amaravati on Monday. He reviews the progress of the project and other irrigation works every week.

The officials informed the Chief Minister that the cameras would go a long way in monitoring and analysing the progress of the works. Mr. Naidu suggested that the cameras should also be used for maintenance of security and asked the officials to link the cameras monitoring the R&R works and colonies with the Fibernet.

The Chief Minister said that the construction of the Diaphragm Wall and Jet Grouting for the Cofferdams should be completed before the end of the summer.

giving details of the progress, the officials informed the Chief Minister that 1excavation works had been completed for 1.93 lakh cubic metres, apart from 21,000 cubic metre of concrete works and 38.4 metres of diaphragm by last week (April 2 to 9).

8 priority projects ready

Mr. Naidu was told that that eight of the 53 priority irrigation projects had been completed and inaugurated, while three lift irrigation schemes, a balancing reservoir and a tunnel were awaiting inauguration.

Meanwhile, Minister for Water Resources Devineni Umamaheswara Rao told the media that the linking of Vamsadhara and Nagavali Rivers was scheduled to be completed by June 18.

Giving more details about the other irrigation projects, he said the Handri-Neeva Srujala Sravanti (HNSS) had already reached Lepakshi of Anantapur District and water from the project would reach Tirupati, Kuppam, Madanapalli, Palamaneru, Madakasera, Nagari, Pendugonda and Puttaparthi soon.

“The Chief Minister will soon lay the foundation stone for the Uttara Andhra Sujala Sravanti (UASS) and water will be supplied to the ayacuts by the New Year. Work on Kondaveeti Vagu is also in progress and there will be no flooding problem once the works are completed,”Mr. Umamaheswara Rao added.
