Tirupur: Frustrated over prolonged illness, a 58-year-old woman committed suicide in Parambikulam Aliyar Project (PAP) irrigation canal near Kamanaickenpalayam in Tirupur district.
Tirupur rural police recovered her body on Sunday. The woman, identified as A Annapoorni of Sulur in Coimbatore district, was suffering from a tumour on her back for a long time, the police said.
They said she could have jumped into the PAP canal to commit suicide on Sunday morning. The postmortem was conducted at Tirupur government hospital. Kamanaickenpalayam police registered the case to conduct further investigations.
