A 54-year-old man who lives in the 8000 block of Mount Air Place contacted Columbus police at 5:42 p.m. April 1 and stated that earlier in the afternoon he had been the victim of an assault.
The man said someone he didn't know slammed a car door shut on his arm and his leg at 2 p.m.
"The victim reported two abrasions to his left leg, an abrasion to his left hand and pain in his finger and elbow as a result of the car door being shut on him," according to the responding officer. "The victim stated the incident started out of road rage." The location of the incident was not indicated on reports.
In other recent Columbus Division of Police incident reports from northwest Columbus:
* Checks and money orders totaling $11,000 payable to an apartment complex in the 6500 block of Millridge Court were reported stolen at 7:05 p.m. April 5.
"(The reporting person) stated that the means is not known with certainty," the officer who took the report noted. "It is believed that they were taken from a mail slot on the exterior door of the leasing office. There were no visible pry marks or signs of forced entry located."
* A television valued at $400 was taken in a break-in at an apartment in the 5100 block of Bentley Lane. The incidentwas reported at 4:15 p.m. April 5. The victim, a 51-year-old woman, said the crime took place after 2:30 that afternoon.
* A woman who lives in the 1900 block of Billingsley Road reported a burglary at her residence at 7:43 a.m. April 2.
The victim, 33, said the break-in took place sometime after 8:30 p.m. April 1. A $30 safe containing $3,000 in cash was removed.
* A representative of a store in the 7700 block of Sawmill Road told police video was available of a suspect shoplifting a $928 television and $164 worth of clothing at 12:27 p.m. March 31.
