Skies are expected to clear across Volusia and Flagler counties Wednesday after a two-day deluge that delivered record-breaking rainfall in some Florida locations.
Daytona Beach broke a daily rainfall record on Monday after a lingering front dropped 1.15 inches of rain. That broke the previous record for April 9, 0.95 inches, set in 1983, said the National Weather Service office in Melbourne. Almost an inch of rain fell Tuesday, far short of the 2.45-inch record for the day.
Normal rainfall for the entire month of April in Daytona Beach is 2.18 inches.
In Flagler County, between Sunday afternoon and Monday morning, one location in northern Palm Coast reported 6.75 inches of rain, said Bob Pickering, with Flagler County Emergency Services. A washout occurred on County Road 95, about 0.75 miles south of County Road 2006 in western Flagler County, Pickering reported.
Windy and cooler conditions are forecast through Friday, with gusts on Wednesday up to 25 mph and a low on Wednesday night of 56.
