The market breadth was in favour of the advances with 1116 stocks advancing while 450 declined and 464 remained unchanged. On the other hand, in the BSE, 1321 stocks advanced and 544 declined and 78 remained unchanged.
The Indian equity market was trading on a positive note on Tuesday morning with the Nifty adding 43 points at 10,422 mark while the Sensex was up 143 points or 0.42 percent.
CNX Realty was up close to 1 percent led by Unitech which jumped over 4 percent while Oberoi Realty gained 2 percent. DLF, Godrej Properties and HDIL were the other sectoral gainers.
The Nifty metal index jumped 1.8 percent in the morning trade after US sanctions on Rusal lift aluminium to four-week high. The top gainers included Hindalco Industries which zoomed over 4 percent followed by NALCO which was up 3 percent.
The other gainers were Hindustan Copper, NMDC, Vedanta, Steel Authority of India and Coal India.
The top Nifty gainers included Hindalco Industries which jumped over 4 percent followed by Axis Bank which was up 3 percent. Adani Ports, Vedanta and ICICI Bank were the other performers.
The most active Nifty stocks included Axis Bank, Hindalco Industries, ICICI Bank, Vedanta and Infosys.
The top BSE gainers included Balrampur Chini which zoomed 8.3 percent followed by Bajaj Hindustan which added 7.7 percent. Future Lifestyle, Praj Industries and Trent were the other gainers.
Bharat Financial Inclusion, Divis Labs, Avenue Supermarts and IndusInd Bank were some of the stocks which hit new 52-week high on Tuesday morning.
