Display anti-corruption slogan: CS tells HoDs

Chief Secretary Girija Vaidyanathan has directed all departments of the Secretariat and all heads of departments to comply with the order of the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court to display the slogan, ‘Bribe giving and receiving is an offence,’ at government offices.

The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court had directed the State government to implement a Government Order which stipulates the display of a slogan against giving and receiving bribe. S. Mohammad Kasim of Madurai had filed a public interest litigation petition seeking display of the anti-corruption message at government offices.

According to Mr. Kasim, the Chief Secretary on March 23 wrote the letter to all heads of departments to comply with the court’s direction.

The departments were directed to issue necessary instructions to the offices under their control in this regard and heads of the departments asked to send compliance report to Personnel and Administrative Reforms department.
