TS turned model for welfare schemes: KTR

Criticises Congress for not fulfilling promises made in 2004 and 2009

The Telangana government has carved a niche for itself in implementing an array of landmark welfare schemes ushering in a golden era and hogging the nation’s attention including that of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, said Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development K.T. Rama Rao.

“However, the State Congress leaders are unable to digest the growing popularity of the development-oriented and people-friendly TRS rule. They (State Congress leaders) are resorting to mudslinging against Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and even not sparing children of the CM’s family from their vicious campaign in a state of despair and envy,” he charged while addressing a public meeting at Puvvada Uday Nagar in Raghunadhapalem mandal on Monday.

Mr. Rao, accompanied by Minister for Roads and Buildings T. Nageswara Rao, Minister for Housing A. Indrakaran Reddy, inaugurated 216 two-bedroom houses at Shivaigudem and laid foundation stones for a 2BHK colony in Raghunadhapalem mandal.

He also inaugurated the MLA’s camp office building and “TASK” Centre, and participated in a slew of civic and road infrastructure and other development projects valued at over ₹160 crore in Khammam municipal corporation limits.

Mahabubabad MP A. Sitaram Naik, Khammam MP P. Srinivas Reddy and MLA P. Ajay Kumar, and others were present.

Mr. Rao slammed the State Congress leaders accusing them of spearheading a false propaganda against the TRS government and making unrealistic promises as part of their ongoing bus yatra to derive “political mileage.”

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy should explain as to how his party intends to provide ₹3,000 unemployment allowance to jobless youth.

“The youth are well aware of the hollow assurances and unfulfilled promises of the successive Congress governments which earned notoriety for crushing several mass movements including the Mudigonda firing incident that claimed six lives,” he said.

The Congress party made a promise to convert the thandas and gudems into gram panchayats in 2004 and 2009 elections and grossly ignored the pre-poll assurance after coming to power on both occasions, he alleged.

On the other hand, the TRS government fulfilled its promise by creating 2,630 gram panchayats and implementing a slew of landmark welfare schemes such as KCR Kits, Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubaarak, which were not originally included in the party manifesto, he asserted.

The TRS government is committed to fill 1.12 lakh vacancies as assured and bring one crore acres under irrigation by expeditiously completing the Sitarama, Kaleshwaram, and other lift irrigation projects, he affirmed.
