Cape Town - Seth Meyers and his wife Alexi Ashe have welcomed their second child, a baby boy named Axel Strahl Meyers, and his birth story is one for the books.
In the opening monologue of Late Night with Seth Meyers on Monday night, Seth shared the story of how his son was born.
It started out as any regular Sunday for Seth and his family, however after a walk in the park his wife started feeling something - prompting them to calmly think the baby could be on the way.
But boy oh boy did things take a turn.
"I'm feeding our son Ashe lunch. My wife is upstairs with my mother-in-law Joanne and about 20 minutes into lunch Joanne comes downstairs and just looks at me and says, 'We have to go to the hospital now!'"
From there Seth's sister-in-law arrived to look after 2-year-old Ashe. Seth, his mother-in-law, his wife, and their doula made their way into the lift down to the lobby.
Seth had ordered an Uber to take them to the hospital, however Alexi had by then realised she wasn't going to make it to the hospital.
"My wife just says, 'I can't get in the car. I'm going to have the baby right now. The baby is coming.' I'm just trying to calm her down," Seth tells the audience.
Thankfully the New York Fire Department and New York Police Department arrived just in time to cut newborn Axel's umbilical cord and EMTs then took the mother and baby to the hospital.
Seth made sure to thank everyone involved but had no chill for the Uber he ordered, saying: "Fuck the Uber driver who charged me!"
