President Donald Trump is skipping a planned trip to South America this week to focus on "the American response to Syria and to monitor developments around the world," White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said. Trump was due to attend the Summit of the Americas in Lima, Peru, and travel to Bogota, Colombia. Sanders did not mention it, but the cancelation also follows the search of Trump lawyer Michael Cohen's office, home and hotel room. Sanders said Vice President Mike Pence will make the trip in Trump's place.
