A day after one person was killed in a road accident at Sabbawala in Sahaspur in Dehradun, 15 persons were injured when the bus they were travelling in was hit by a truck at Asharodi near Clement Town in the capital on Monday. All the injured were rushed to a hospital.
Among those injured were Gulshan Kumar, native of Bijnor; Neelam, native of Saharanpur; Imran, resident of Buggawala, Haridwar; Kallu, native of Saharanpur; Devesh Dheeman, resident of Ukhimath; Mukesh, resident of Saharanpur; Jabbar, resident of Haridwar and Intzar, resident of Haridwar.
A police officer based in Clement Town said that there were around 35 passengers in the bus which was going to Asharodi from Daat Kali Mandir.
A truck coming from Asharodi rammed the bus while the truck driver was trying to overtake. The accident occurred at 12.40 pm, the police added. The accident resulted in a huge traffic pileup and police deployed cranes to lift the vehicles to ensure resumption of traffic.
In another incident, a car diver identified as Aasif, resident of Mussoorie, was injured when the car he was driving tumbled into a gorge at JP Band, Mussoorie. Police reached the spot and rushed the injured to a local hospital.
Furthermore, a pedestrian identified as Puran Rana, a Nepali national, had died after he was knocked down by a car coming from the opposition direction at Herbertpur in Vikasnagar on Saturday.
After the deceased’s brother had registered a compliant a case under appropriate sections of IPC was registered in Vikasnagar police station. The accused driver identified as S Dubey, native of Bareilly (Uttar Pradesh) had later been arrested.
