Police are looking for a thief with a thirst for expensive booze. Tens of thousands of dollars worth of liquor has been stolen from bottle shops across Melbourne.

Daniella Miletic reports: In all incidents, the thief targets high-end alcohol, removing the security tags and exiting the store without making any attempt to pay.

In the most recent theft at Flemington, he assaulted a staff member while stealing a bottle of wine worth thousands of dollars.

The man is believed to be of Pacific Islander or Maori appearance, about 25 to 30 years old, with a solid build and short black hair.
