Rupee opens 15 paise higher at 64.87 against US dollar

NEW DELHI: The rupee on Tuesday opened 15 paise higher at 64.87 against the US dollar on account of selling of American currency by banks and exporters.
The local currency on Monday slipped from one-month high level to close 5 paise lower at 65.02 against the greenback. According to the provisional exchange data, foreign investors pulled out Rs 1,300 crore from stocks in the previous trading session.
According to ICICIdirect.com, the rupee extended losses on Monday as market participants remained cautious in the backdrop of US-China trade war concerns.
The RBI, meanwhile, fixed the reference rate for the dollar at 64.9287 and for the euro at 79.6870.
Country's foreign exchange reserves hit a lifetime high of $424.361 billion, largely helped by a rise in foreign currency assets, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI)said.
