- Tell us about your early life and how did you get into anchoring and acting?
Acting and anchoring started in school; from being a shy and timid child, I found explosive joy on stage. It was where I would laugh and be who I wanted to be. So it was an organic growth. I didn’t start doing this professionally until a few years ago. So, it was a full circle of doing what you ‘must’ do to doing what I ‘love’ to do.
- How has your journey from an anchor to an actress been so far? What do you enjoy more?
Both have distinct flavours of entertainment; the beauty of anchoring is that I am an extension of my personality, and in acting I am playing a whole new persona. But I love both equally. Also being in Mumbai gave me an added advantage of diversification.
- What’s the best and worst part about being an anchor?
The best part is obviously being able to do what you love to do, and being paid for it. I love to talk, and interact and meet people, it’s in my DNA. There is no worst part, although, I wish I didn’t have to dress up all the time for a show.
- You had a special role in Salman Khan’s film ‘Sultan’? Has this film changed your life in any way?
Every film or every show is a stepping stone. There are several highlights of working in Sultan; I got my first Yash Raj film. I got to play me, with my name in the film. I got to do my second film with Salman Khan. I worked with a great team; Ali Abbas is a fabulous director. There wouldn’t be a thing I’d change about my journey so far.
- You have been hosting GoaFest for the past three years. How has your experience been here?
The mindshare and the knowledge you gain is tremendous, everyone is such a star, I think advertising is not only a challenging profession it’s also a very responsible one. So to be able to meet these minds and interact with them has only added to my repertoire. Also the guest speakers are so enterprising and entertaining it just is the best vibe. Being in Goa to work is an added part of joy. And about Goa, I love how the moment you reach Goa you are relaxed. I love the food, the sun and the pool. I am such a happy puppy here in Goa.
- Any message to those aspiring in the entertainment business?
Be true to what you do. There is enough opportunity, but you need to be very good at what you do, aim to do good work, and by that I don’t mean seeking good work, I mean being good at whatever work you do, or host at any stage. Honesty in the entertainment business goes a long way.
- Could you tell us something about your upcoming projects?
I’m crazy happy and excited about my Netflix show, ‘Sacred Games’. My cameo in ‘Gully Boy’ also excites me. My work makes me travel to exotic places so my holidays keep me really positive.
