Atotal of 127 extremist-affected villages in Bokaro district would be developed soon.
The Central Government has sanctioned special Central assistance scheme for the development for such villages in the next three years.
Under this scheme, every district will be given an amount of Rs 28.77 crore per annum for next three years for development, informed Ravi Rannaj Mishra DDC Bokaro. The aim of this initiative is to provide public infrastructure and services in naxal-affected villages, he said.
“There are 127 villages of 26 panchayats in Bokaro district including 9 panchayats of Nawadih, 14 panchayats of Gomia and 3 panchayats of Kasmar are affected by Left Wing Extremism (LWE) and the central government has sanctioned funds for development of such villages for next three years under Special Assistance Scheme”, added DDC.
In a meeting with officials, Mishra asked his officials to adopt at least one panchayat affected by LWE and prepare a sketch of the development plan of their respective panchayats earliest.
Plans should be designed after interaction with the villagers and according to guideline. “It must be passed from the Gram Sabha,” he added.
The plans passed by the Gram Sabha will be implemented in the next three years for development of those areas. DDC also instructed the District Planning Officer to get a list of Panchayat Adopters and take approval for acceptance at earliest.
The Centre has taken many initiatives to tackle the naxal menace. In order to strengthen the villages that are worst affected by left-wing extremism, the Centre has approved special assistance scheme.
In the past, the Centre had implemented Integrated Action Plan (IAP) in 88 naxal-infested districts in 2010-11. The plan was to equip the districts with public infrastructure and services, said an official.
“Under this scheme, provision of Rs 25 crore per districts per year during 2010-11 and thereafter Rs 30 crore per district per year was made. On August 1, 2013 the IAP was renamed as 'Additional Central Assistance for Left Wing Extremism Affected Districts' for the rest of 12th five year plan years,” he added. Beside others, AC Jugnu Minz, DRDA Director Sandeep Kumar, SDO Chas Satish Chandra, SDO Bermo Prem Ranjan, DSE Mahip Singh were present during the meeting.
