Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Bihar tomorrow where he will participate in concluding ceremony of Mahatma Gandhi’s Champaran Satyagraha yearlong centenary celebrations at Motihari in East Champaran district. Mr Modi will also administer cleanliness pledge to 20,000 Swacchagrahis and address a Swacchata Sammelan (cleanliness conference).
Elaborate security arrangements have been put in place at the venue of function in Motihari. The adjoining border area of district with Nepal has been sealed.
Twenty thousand (20,000) sanitation motivators including 10,000 from Bihar have thronged at Motihari after a weeklong Satygraha Se Swacchagrah (सत्याग्रह से स्वच्छाग्रह) village to village cleanliness drive for the eradication of open defecation, toilet construction and sustained behaviour change.
During the last week, over 7 lakh toilets have been constructed across the state. The Satyagraha se Swacchagraha campaign is the precursor to achieve the goal Open Defecation Free India by 2019.
Prime Minister Modi has set the target of 2nd October 2019 for ODF India which is the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. To give the big boost to Swaccha Bharat Mission (SBM), the drive of Chalo Champaran was launched by Government of India with State government in Bihar.
Inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s call of Satyagraha 100 years ago, Prime Minister has appealed for Swacchagraha a mass mobilization movement for cleanliness.
Besides this, Mr Modi will also launch and dedicate several development projects for Bihar via video conference from Motihari. He will inaugurate newly constructed electrified Motihari- Muzaffarpur rail section and flag off new Chamaparan Humsafar express train between Katihar and Old Delhi Junction.
The Prime Minister would also dedicate first locomotive engine of 12000 horsepower manufactured at Madhepura Loco factory via video conference. The production has been started under ambitious Make In India mission.
Mr Modi will also lay foundation of different sewerage treatment plant projects of the estimated cost of over 1100 crore rupees in Patna district.
