Bike rally troubles public, cops to act against organisers

It was held to celebrate TDP leader’s appointment

Traffic on Hyderabad-Vijayawada national highway came to a standstill at Gollapudi for sometime due to a motorcycle rally taken out allegedly by the supporters of Komma Koteswara Rao, who took oath as the chairman of the Gollapudi Market Yard on Sunday evening.

The noisy rally involving youth who resorted to all sorts of motor vehicle violations, scared the public.

The rally also had drunk riders.

Following complaints from local people, city police said they would register cases against the organisers for taking out the rally without permission.

Recently, city police found that such rallies sponsored by politicians were organised by youth with criminal background.

A gang involved in several offences, which supplied men and motorcycles for such rallies, was arrested.

Posters

On the other hand, posters highlighting the alleged pending criminal cases against Mr. Koteswara Rao cropped up in Gollapudi area.

The posters by Ramavarappadu Yadava Sangham listed out six alleged pending FIRs against the TD leader.

Meanwhile, 150 persons were booked in the city for allegedly driving vehicles under the influence of alcohol.

Police conducted a check at the Food Junction, Netaji Bridge, Padavalarevu Junction, Vinayaka Temple, Kanakadurga Varadhi and other places on Saturday night.

Drunken drive cases

They tested drivers with breath analysers and registered cases against 124 two-wheeler riders, 11 auto drivers and 14 car drivers.

They would be produced in the court, the police said.
